Encoded into your DNA is information about your race, your gender, and even your parents! DNA also controls characteristics such as eye colour. How much DNA influences very complex features, such as intelligence, is not yet fully understood.

| What does DNA look like?

Surprisingly, it is stunningly simple. DNA looks like an incredibly long twisted ladder. This shape is called a double helix. You have probably seen a double helix many times even if you didn't know what it was.
The image on a DNA canvas is acheived by creating a DNA profile. DNA fragments are tagged with fluorescent dyes and literally photographed. The result is a series of bands and highlights.

| How do I collect my DNA?
|
The collection kit we send you will contain all the instructions but essentially, you use the included swap and rub it on the inside of your cheek. Put the swab back into the postage-paid envelope and post it back to us - simple!

| How do you secure my DNA information?
|
We appreciate you may have concerns about what happens with your DNA information once we receive it. Firstly, when you post it back to us there is no identifying information about you - only a reference number so we can match your received DNA to your order. If your sample gets lost in the mail, no one could possibly know who's DNA it is. Secondly, our suppliers lab is appropriately certified and adheres to stringent privacy laws. They have had decades of experience in DNA processing such as paternity testing. Finally, the data is stored on password-protected servers and archived in an encrypted format.

| What will my DNA tell about me?
|
We don't analyse your DNA to find specific traits as we're only concerned with imaging your DNA onto a canvas. Nothing can be learned about a person without analysing the physical DNA sample and looking into the genetic code. You DNA Canvas only has about 1% of the entire DNA code showing on the canvas, therefore no one can read into your DNA canvas or learn anything specific about you.

| Do you keep my DNA?
|
Every sample is securely destroyed as per industry standards. We can keep your DNA image if you like for future prints.
After we destroy your DNA sample, we keep your digital image on our servers for a few months and then it is securely deleted. If you'd like it deleted sooner just contact us and we'll make it happen. If you'd like us to keep it in our archives we can do that too. The benefit of keeping your DNA image is that should you want further canvas prints you won't need to send another sample and the cost will be lower as we don't need to re-image your DNA.

| Can you make a DNA Canvas of deceased person or pet?
|
This is a common process and is a unique and personal way to remember a loved one. We usually require some hair samples but please contact us to learn more about the process.
One of our biggest categories when printing people's photos is 'pets' so it makes sense to us that you should be able to get a DNA Canvas of your pet! The process is the same - take a mouth swab and send it in. This process works wonderfully with mammals such as dogs, cats and horses. Contact us if you have an insect, reptile, bird, amphibian, fish, arachnid or mollusk - pet rocks don't have DNA.

| How many DNA samples can I put onto one canvas?
|
As many as you'd like. You could have you and a significant other, or your entirely family on there if you like. They make wonderful presents for new relationships, weddings, Mother's or Father's day.
Just let us know how many swap kits you need when you place your order. Each swap will be associated with your unique canvas order.

| Can I get a copy of my DNA image file?
|
If you'd like a copy of your digital file to use as a screen-saver, send to friends, or to print yourself you can. Just let us know when placing your order.

| How much does it cost?
|
The cost varies depending on your selected canvas size. The DNA image is of certain proportions so we have specifically designed templates to generate the final coloured image and each size needs it's own template. So, a DNA canvas requires a lot more work to get right and having limited canvas sizes makes it easier - and cheaper for your customers.

| How long will it take to receive my order?
|
Once we receive your DNA sample, it takes 7 to 10 working days to create the image. From there, it takes 5 days to print, laminate and frame your canvas. So, 12 to 15 working days. Add to that delivery time which will vary depending on your selected delivery method and location.
